The last year has been one of growth and change, more than the expected changes of a young child growing up. Robert has discovered the personal confidence in his own courage and strength.
Breaking boards shows the reality of technique. Breaking burning boards can provide an unequaled focus point.
Standing in front of your own class, leading exercises is one thing. Standing in front of a color belt class demonstrating and leading practice is an entirely different matter! Walking among them to correct and show technique, quiet giggles and talking, providing an example of achievement and ability; these are milestones in the path that cannot be taught or even adequately described.
Some of the ripples of effect can be seen almost immediately with straighter shoulders, more self confidence, joy and pride. Most of the changes rippling out from these new levels of responsibility will only be apparent in future demonstrations of dedication and commitment, and in his acceptance of ever increasing requirements and responsibilities.
The challenges presented by Robert’s first experiences, during 2005, competing as a Black Belt in state and world level tournaments have already caused new outlooks and changing viewpoints on the subject of Martial Arts. In one area, the change has only been of increased desire: Robert wants more than ever to eventually become a Karate Master like Master Brown.
Robert is confident in himself and more important, he likes himself. This is an attitude that will stay and is easy to observe in all he does because he is certain that those people important to him, love him and are confident in him. |
